Pakistan Team Is No Longer Number 1 in ICC Men’s ODI Team Rankings

The Pakistan team, which came to play against India in the Asia Cup, has lagged behind in the ICC ODI rankings. Australia has overtaken Pakistan and pushed it to second place. Indian team is at number three. On one hand, Pakistan team was competing with the Indian team in Asia Cup 2023, while on the other hand, Australia won in the ICC ODI team rankings. Australia has moved up to the number one spot in the ICC men’s ODI team rankings after an impressive win over South Africa in the second ODI in Bloemfontein. Recently, Pakistan has achieved number one position in men’s ODI team ranking by defeating Australia. Being down in the ranking will also affect the morale of the Pakistan team. At least its players will not come on the field with the claim that they are number one.

Australia did it again!

Australia once again became number-1 by winning the second ODI match of the series against South Africa. After a thrilling win in the first match in Bloemfontein, Australia won the second ODI by 123 runs. Australia came to bat first. Head scored a quickfire half-century, while Warner brought up his 20th ODI century, giving Australia a strong base.

Marnus Labuschagne, the hero of Australia’s first ODI win, continued his brilliant performance and scored another century. With this, Australia made a huge score of 392/8 in 50 overs. In reply, South Africa had a great start, but despite brilliant innings from Quinton de Kock and Heinrich Klaasen, South Africa was all out for 269 runs.

With this win, Australia has reached the top position in the men’s ODI team ranking points table (121 points). This puts them ahead of Pakistan, who is on (120 points). Both the teams are almost tied at the top with India (114 points) behind them. With the arrival of many ODI competitions, further changes may be seen in the equations and rankings.
